Phillippians 4 was my starting point in Bible study. When Rick and Michaela Davila lead groups at Grace prior to the Community Group model, God used Michaela to steer me toward His assurance in that chapter. It is relevant in every moment. Because anxiety is my primary struggle in this season, to the point where I am paralyzed from making forward progress, this post feels like a special reminder to me - God is always seeking me, always chasing me, and wants me to reside in His loving peace found in prayer, in praise, in worship, and in His Word.

Kelly T., the idea of "thanksgiving" in that passage always hits me square in the face. Isn't giving thanks in the midst of difficulty such a perfect antidote to the poison of worry? It's hard to be fearful when you are being thankful. I struggle here, too. So grateful for the Spirit that helps me when I'm weak.

Such a struggle for me. Thank you for these words. I am still learning daily how to surrender my anxious thoughts to Him! I have begun quoting "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything,by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." Philippians 4:6 over and over in my head. What a wonderful feeling that is to surrender it to the One who loves me most.

We serve together every week! Serving others always reminds us that we live for more than ourselves, more than each other, and more than our problems. Christ has called us to serve others humbly, and it is in that calling that my husband and I are brought closer together.

Kelly and Christie, I love that you both are the real thing. Your honesty and openness are such a blessing to the women of Grace. Kelly, regarding #5, recently fear struck me to my core, and I knew where it was coming from. I went to God's Word and found in 1 John 4, "God is love" and "perfect love casts out fear". I just keep saying these verses over and over, refusing to let the enemy mess with my head. Instead, I allow God's Word to replace the fear with His perfect love.

Fear has a hard time hanging around when I recall God's faithfulness instead of rehearsing my doubt. Romans 8:32 is always a good place for me to start: "He who did not spare His own son, but gave Him up for us all - how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?"
